At Parker Cottage, we take the word ‘breakfast’ just as seriously as the word ‘bed’ in ‘bed and breakfast’. Our breakfast never stands still: it’s constantly evolving and full of new ideas, tastes, and flavors. See our TripAdvisor reviews for what our past guests thought of it.
We offer a huge five-course breakfast (see menu below), the like of which isn’t available anywhere else in Cape Town, even at some much more expensive establishments. All our cooked food is made to order, from fresh, local ingredients. We aim to source 90% of all our ingredients from less than 200km away from the table where you are served. We always offer freshly baked muffins or other sweet treats, individually prepared fruit salads, and freshly prepared cooked breakfasts. There is a range of excellent cold meats, cheeses, and fresh bread all of which is deli standard.
In the winter months, breakfast is served in front of a roaring fire in our dining room and in the summer months, on the stoep or in the garden under the orange tree. If you wish, you can even order the first three courses in bed.
Our freshly-prepared breakfasts are served daily from 07h30 to 10h00. We don’t do two sittings: so once you have a table, it’s yours until you’ve finished. Food and its consumption should never be rushed.
We don’t offer those buffet-style breakfasts where the food stands for hours: every aspect of your breakfast is served to you at your table, from toast to cereal, cheese platter to omelette. So there’s no need to run around balancing plates of food or picking over the leftovers if you come late.
We have a new plat du jour every day, which is a cooked dish, normally a lighter version of the traditional cooked breakfast.
Our rates are subject to change without notice: we strongly advise you to contact us for exact rates for your stay. All our rates are per ROOM per night, not per person.
We accept payment by EFT, Paystack, Mastercard and Visa card. Please note that regardless of how deposits/accounts are paid, all bookings must be accompanied by credit card details valid until the last day of the booking.
Children are welcome, and can share a room with a single fold-away bed. Also, children occupying separate rooms are charged the full room rate for that room (besides when sharing the suite).
Please enquire when booking.
To confirm a booking, we ask you for a 50% deposit. This is non refundable, unless we are able to resell your booked nights. We also require a valid credit card number at the time of the booking, whether or not the deposit is paid by credit card. We do recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect you from unnecessary costs resulting from cancellations.
Our rooms are designed to accommodate two adults comfortably. Some of our rooms can accommodate a fold-away bed and depending on the season, we can accommodate a third person in a room. For this we charge R500 per night in addition to the particular room rate.
Whilst we’re very happy to go to midday (1200) for a late check out, if you need your room past this time, we will have to ask you for the full rate for the room. Our housekeepers must normally leave by 14h00 every day to get home to their families and we’re unable to offer a room to other guests which we can’t clean and change. If availability allows, we can offer day rooms for a flat rate of R500 but this can only be confirmed on the day.
Please note that for the security of all our guests, we can only accept check-ins after 19h00 if you make use of Chris - either an airport transfer, or a 'Meet and Greet' at our front gate. If you'd like to be collected from the airport by Chris, please enquire for transfer rates. You can also be met at the gate if you are self-driving but we need to arrange this at least a day in advance.
Our prices for the Family Suite are based on either three adults sharing or two adults and two children. Children over 14 are charged as adults, using the suite. The suite can accommodate up to four adults or two adults and three children sharing, however there are additional costs. Please contact us for exact rates for your dates.
To confirm a booking, we require a non-refundable 50% deposit. We will require credit card details for all bookings at the time of booking, regardless of how deposits are paid. No further funds will be deducted from your credit card unless our cancellation policy comes into force (see below). We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect you from unnecessary costs resulting from cancellations.
As we are a small establishment, it is sometimes not possible to resell a room at short notice. For cancellations either before or during a booking we charge 50% of the total original accommodation cost which is equivalent to the 50% deposit paid at confirmation. We charge a further 50%, in other words 100%, of the cost of the original booking, for cancellation within 7 days of the arrival date and/or in the event of a no-show and/or nights cancelled whilst the booking is in progress. At our discretion a PRO-RATA refund will be made for any night which we are able to reallocate to a new guest. All refunds are subject to a handling fee of R150. All cancellations must be in writing. Bookings are not cancelled until you receive a written reply from us which confirms the cancellation.
For bookings which total 8 room nights and over, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm the booking (but see below for early cancellations). Additionally, payment of the outstanding 50% is required at least 30 days before arrival. We will remind you about this payment nearer the time.
As we are a small establishment, it is sometimes not possible to resell a room at short notice. This is particularly the case for large bookings in the high season. We strongly advise you to purchase adequate travel insurance for your trip and to ensure that all other members of your party are also suitably insured. For cancellations up to 30 days before arrival, we charge 50% of the total original accommodation cost which is equivalent to the 50% deposit. At 30 days before arrival, we will ask you for the balance of payment, in other words the remaining 50%. At our sole discretion a PRO-RATA refund of the deposit and balance payment will be made for any night which we are able to reallocate to a new guest should you cancel within 30 days of arrival. All refunds are subject to a handling fee of R150. All cancellations must be in writing. Bookings are not cancelled until you receive a reply from us which confirms the cancellation.
As festive season bookings are normally made up to a year in advance, for bookings over the peak season every year, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to confirm the booking (but see below for early cancellations). The remaining 50% will be due 90 days before arrival. If the booking is made within 90 days before the start of the festive season, we require a 100% non-refundable deposit to confirm the booking.
As we are a small establishment, it is generally not possible to resell a room at short notice during the festive season. This is particularly the case for large bookings (many rooms or many nights). We strongly advise you to purchase adequate travel insurance for your trip and to ensure that all other members of your party are also suitably insured. For cancellations of any bookings made which fall either wholly or partly in the festive season, we retain the entire cost of the booking, which is equivalent to your deposit, until and only if we are able to resell the room(s). At our sole discretion a PRO-RATA refund of the deposit and balance payment will be made for any night which we are able to reallocate to a new guest should you cancel. All refunds are subject to a handling fee of R150. All cancellations must be in writing. Bookings are not cancelled until you receive a reply from us which confirms the cancellation.
Please note that our rates are per room per night, including a sumptuous breakfast, parking, unlimited internet and unlimited tea and coffee and all local taxes. Children over 9 are welcome and pay full adult rate if occupying a room (unless staying in our Family Suite.) STO rates (for new agents) are the rack rate less a starting commission. After the first five room nights booked in any 12 month period, we offer a full commission. All rates are per room per night. We do not offer single rates, commission on our Cosy rooms or any commission at all between 20th December and 5th January every year.
