They say: "We opened our doors in 1996 with a vision of creating a gastronomic haven where diners could enjoy innovate and creative cuisine to excite the senses. Aubergine is housed in the 1830 home of the then Chief Justice and our cuisine is based on both Eastern and Western traditions. We place an emphasis on lightness and balance and would like to tempt you to sample our winelist, intended to inspire rather than just complement the food we serve."
Parker Cottage Guesthouse says: "Aubergine is one of the oldest restaurants in Cape Town and not without reason: they take food very seriously here and offer degustation (tasting) menus with wines to match and even have their own wine outlet just around the corner. The building is a splendid warren of rooms, some chic and modern, some cosy and traditional. You'll find service here much more formal and reserved than in many of our other recommendations but it's never pretentious. They offer three meals a day: lunch, cinq a sept and dinner, all of which we'd recommend. Ask for help with wine pairing: you won't be disappointed."
